The Range Rover was introduced in 1970 as a development of the existing Land Rover. Unlike its American counterpart, it wasn’t seen as a luxury-type 4x4 but rather as a utility vehicle - useful and practical. Early Range Rovers had basic, utilitarian interiors designed to be easily cleaned. The more upmarket features such as power-assisted steering, carpeted floors, air conditioning, leather seat fittings and wooden interior trims were fitted in later years. Range Rover has now grown to represent the best in luxurious yet practical design, a car that satisfies both aesthetic and functional needs.

In 2006 the Range Rover's exterior was updated, as were the engine choices. In 2007 all changes were mechanical or interior, and in 2010's refresh the exterior of the Range Rover was dramatically updated to include a new exterior grille, multi-camera vision system, bumpers, LED head/tail lights, two new engines and new features. It also showcased a 12-inch TFT LCD instrument panel  which displays 'virtual' gauges and is a tremendous technical achievement, making the whole driving experience more engaging and intuitive.
