JamesFrench.com defies Winter blues
Unprecedented snowfall over the last two winters have caused disruptions all over the country, and even more so in the automotive industry, where sales figures of new car registrations fell by 18% year on year in December 2010.
With snow falling as early as 24 November across Northumberland and North Yorkshire, 2010 saw the UK's earliest widespread winter snowfall in the United Kingdom since 1993. However it appears that JamesFrench.com customers had learnt their lesson from the previous year, and were quick off the mark to ensure they weren’t left stranded by the extreme weather.
While other automotive dealerships struggled with customers unable to visit showrooms, Land Rover as a whole, and JamesFrench.com in particular saw an increase in visits and sales. Like our customers, we adapted to the change in weather conditions.
"In 2009 snow fell before Christmas catching people unprepared,” explains James. “As the snow fell the temperatures also dropped making getting around difficult, particularly in some of the more rural locations. We acted quickly on this by buying in extra winter tyres, working longer hours to help with the crisis, and also increasing our car stock to cope with the demand.”
Over the last two winters there’s been a surge in demand for second hand Land Rovers to act as a second family car and to provide support in the bad conditions. Many current Land Rover owners have also been in contact about winter tyres, especially those in the slightly more rural areas between Oxford and Cheltenham.
