'Soft tops' don’t appear in the Land Rover 'official' range, apart from the occasional special edition, so there are relatively few on the road. However, every year at JamesFrench.com we famously buy a couple of Land Rover Defenders, and convert them into the ultimate summer vehicle within our 8 bay workshops. Each vehicle is fitted with a roll hoop, hood sticks and hood rollbar, with the option of side facing seats and seatbelts. All vehicles are finished to the highest factory finish standards.

The soft tops are incredibly popular because, not only are they rare and yet affordable, they’re also extremely versatile. Unbeatable off-road, they’re also very comfortable for day-to-day travel, and surprisingly smooth on the motorway. They’re practical for moving large loads, as goods can rise above the usual roof limit if necessary. And the novelty factor for friends, and family is obvious – the soft-top modification allows you to get everyone in the back with the roof down and the music turned up!
